Beverly Fortune is the Chief Operating Officer of Syosset-based Morey Publishing LLC, Publisher of Milieu Magazine and Associate Publisher of the Long Island Press.  Beverly is also the author of the highly regarded Fortune 52 column honoring extraordinary women on Long Island that is featured in the Long Island Press.

As a female media executive, Beverly believed that there were accomplished local women on Long Island who were underserved in the media. Thus she started authoring the Fortune 52 column in the Long Island Press and discovered in short order how significant this population actually was. Her column inspired the creation of tri-annual networking events to honor these exceptional women that has become a not-to-be-missed gathering of hundreds of Long Island business professionals, non profits and entrepreneurs. The success of the Fortune 52 column and events has led several organizations to recognize Beverly as the person who gives a voice to women in our community who do extraordinary work and typically receive little credit.

In March 2012 Fortune was named Publisher of Milieu Magazine, a new publication written exclusively for women opinion leaders on Long Island.  Under Fortune’s direction, the editorial in Milieu contains only fresh, relevant content for community-minded, intelligent and active women. Milieu has been so well-received the once bi-monthly magazine will publish 10 issues in 2013, and will be printed on glossy magazine stock.

Fortune has been honored by charitable and community organizations such as the Long Island Women’s Agenda (LIWA), Soroptimist International (Making a Difference for Women honoree), Long Island Business News Top 50 Most Influential Women, the Town of Brookhaven Office of Women’s Services media award, Dress for Success and the Education and Assistance Corporation (EAC).
